It's fitting that the top two senior boys' times run at the 2022 State XC Championship meet came from two of the fastest athletes this season in the 5A final. Tayson Echohawk and Liam Heninger have almost raced against each other in every single race this season, and they have had their fair share of trading blows. Tayson has the most wins in this fun matchup, and he was able to defend his state title from a cross-town rival when he broke the tape in 14:53.70. Other State champions who were seniors were Trey Despain of Pine View who won the 4A title in 15:26.30, Richard Crane of Richfield who won the 3A title in 15:57.60, and Michael Ralphs of Millard who won the 2A title in 16:06.50.
