Utah XC Weekend Recap: Season Now in Full Swing

Pre Region 1 Meet (Layton, UT)

Before the weekend even started, we got a nice piece of action over at the Pre Region 1 Meet in Layton with some ranked individuals in the State.  In the girl's race, it was No. 4 ranked Hailey Low of Layton who took the easy win in 18:28.60.  Low ran with the lead from the start and never looked back.  After crossing the line, she even joined the crowd of spectators to cheer on her runner-up and teammate as they crossed the line. The Weber girls absolutely dominated the competition finishing with a low score of 35 points and placing three runners in the top five.  Layton was second in 4 points, and Davis rounded out the top three in 88 points.

For the boys, No 14 Spencer Bradshaw of Farmington and No. 15 Andrew Harris of Weber, were locked in a dog fight that saw the two of them trading leads up until the last mile of the race.  Bradshaw made a bold surge to give himself the separation he needed to secure the win at their pre-regional race, while Harris finished just 7 seconds behind Bradshaw. Farmington came away with the team win and averaged 16:00 for the course.  Weber was second overall with a team average of 16:10.  These two teams seem to be locked as the favorites to win the region 1 title in October.
