Utah XC Weekend Recap: Season Now in Full Swing

Up in Sandy, we saw a few ranked individuals take their wins in one of the only meets that raced 5000m for this past week. In the boy's race it was Sam Hansen of Woods Cross who took the win in a time of 16:30.90.  Following Sam was West Jordan's Alex Maxfield, who finished in 16:40, and rounding out the top three was Sophomore Cole Jameson of Taylorsville who finished in a time of 16:46.  These three athletes were the only individuals to break 17 at this meet.  The Woods Cross boys team won the meet with a final score of 50 points, while Taylorsville trailed closely behind with 57 points.

For the girls, it was Kylie Olsen of Skyridge who took the individual title in 19:42.  She ran a solo race and gapped the field by over a full minute!  Olsen's runner-up was Whitley Kidd out of Copper Hills, who crossed the line in a time of 20:48, while Kylie's teammate Halle Mehr was the next to finish in 20:50.  The Skyrdige girls were also the overall team champions finishing with a final score of 37 points and a team average of 21:10.
