Analysis: The Corner Canyon girls opened up their season with a win over No. 5 ranked Mountain Ridge last week at the Park City Twilight XC. What's interesting is that based on their returning 5000m times, it would seem that this tight-knit squad doesn't yet have that clear number one runner. Only 19 seconds separate the 1st runner from their 5th. Courtney Madsen had the fourth fastest returning time for this team, and she was the varsity race's overall champion, which came as a pleasant surprise to the senior. Corner Canyon was third in region and state behind Lone Peak and American Fork. Still, their championship window is open, and these girls seem determined to make the podium this season.
