Anna Martin Breaks The XC State Record in 17:15.00!
Athlete: Anna Martin
Year: 2020
School: Lehi
Anna Martin is the fastest girl In Utah High School History (According to UHSAA State Record Books). She ran a 17:15.00 on the Sugar House Park Course and was the first to break 17:20! The course was altered in 2015 which does make it hard to compare past athletes to her, but a 17:15 still is an unreal time. Anna was constantly gapping the field finishing around 20-40 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor. Martin decided to go take her talents to the Footlocker West Regional race where she finished 3rd overall earning herself an invitation to the National Championships. Since then, Anna has been dealing with some injuries but still managed to turn in a pretty good track season running sub 11 for 3200m and 5:11 for 1600m. Going into her senior year, Anna should be looking to improve upon her State Record this October.
