Athlete spotlight interview with North Summit senior Sadie Sargent. Sadie Sargent is off to a dream start this year. She has already had major wins at the Highland Invite and Westlake Grass Relays. Sadie also came off a great summer where she broke 5 for the full mile at the Great Southwest Classic. She also ended up winning and setting a new meet record while getting a new PR! Sadie has emerged as the top girl in Utah and she has her eyes set on continuing her course for an undefeated season. Sadie was the State Champion in the Girls 2A division from last season so she will look to defend her XC state title while picking up her 7th state title overall.

How did you first get started running?
My freshman year i had a really good friend who convinced me to try cross country... i told her i'd try it for a week, after that week i was hooked and i've never stopped since

Favorite workout?
My favorite workout is 4 400s @ 1600 pace i like it because it's fast and short but still hard.
Least favorite workout?
Least favorite is 3 1600s by far thee hardest workout known to man kind.
How do you personally prepare yourself mentally and physically for a race?
Before the race i have to keep my mind occupied i listen to music or sleep or talk to my teammates... i try and stay off of my feet as much as possible
Pre race superstitions?
Always eat a banana and write motivational phrases on my hand.
Most memorable race?
My favorite race was the mile at the great south west... i ran a 4:54 & broke the meet record. it was so memorable because i had set a goal to break five and i did it also had the best teammates ever that made it so much fun!
Where are you at on your college decisions?
I'm still deciding on college nothing to serious yet
