Flashback Friday: Thomas Boyden Breaks Clingers State Record

Just a year ago, in what will be known as the shortest season of track and field in history, Thomas Boyden of Skyline did the unthinkable when he broke Casey Clinger's State Records in the 1600m and 3200m.  Boyden had planned on running in a track meet down south in Texas but was re-routed to Southern Utah when Covid-19 made its way through the country, shutting down almost everything.

All track meets were canceled except for the Snow Canyon Invitational, where Boyden had his chance to run one high school outdoor track meet before it was all gone, and he did not disappoint.  Running 4:05.16 the first day in the 1600m beating Clinger's former record of 4:06.22 and came back for day two running 8:50.65 for 3200m breaking another one Clinger's now-former record of 8:57.90.

It was truly a memorable meet highlighted by Thomas Boyden's unforgettable performances, who is undoubtedly one of the greatest distance runners Utah has ever seen.
