2017 Cross Country MileSplit Utah Girls All-State Team Honors

3RD TEAM

- - -

1. Abby Jensen,  Westlake,  Junior

Abby had such a great season and what hurt her ranking was how far back she finished at NXR-SW.  Other then that one race,  Abby was the runner up to Mckenna Lee at the Utah State Championships 6A Class and 8th overall in the merge.  She was the winner of the Salk Lake XC Classic in a time of 17:58 for 3 miles.

2. Mica Rivera,  Herriman,  Senior

Mica Rivera was the Region 3 Champion and she finished 17th at the Footlocker West Regional behind some of the great runners of Utah.  Grabbed PRs this season in the 5K with a 18:24, and 3 miles with 18:05.

3.  Haley Tanne,  Pleasant Grove,  Senior

Haley Tanne was the 3rd place finisher in the Utah State 6A Class race and was 9th in the State Meet Merge.  Tanne led Pleasant Grove to the Stat Team Title upsetting the likes of Lone Peak and American Fork.  Haley went on to NXR-SW and Footlocker where she struggled a bit finishing 43rd at Nike and 54th at FL. Overall a good season setting a new PR of 18:00 for 3 miles.

4.  Carlee Hansen,  Woods Cross,  Freshman

Carlee is adding to the growing number of Freshman to get All-State Honors.  Some of her great accomplishments include winning her regionals.  She was runner up to Sadie Sargent at BYU and finished 21st overall at the Footlocker West Region.  Super clutch runner here and I can't wait to see what she can do next XC season.

5. Helena Miyazawa,  Mountain View,  Junior

Helena had an amazing start to the season.  She was Mountain View's number one runner and was mixing it up with the best of the best.  She later hit a speed bump and dropped a bit.  But like any good racer she didn't let that get to her by placing 33rd at NXR-SW and 22nd at Footlocker West.  Miyazawa is only a Junior so I'd expect her to be challenging the likes of Karli Branch and Eliza Arrington next Fall.

6. Abby West,  Wasatch,  Senior

Abby overall had what we call a parabola of a season where she started off great, slowed down, but when it counted the most, finished strong.  Abby's biggest races of the season had to be the first where she was the runner up to Sadie Sargent at Highland,  and her latest which was the Footlocker West Regional finishing just 31st on the tough Mt. Sac course.

7. AnnaBeth Templeman,  Springville,  Freshman

Like Lone Peak, Springville is led by two outstanding freshman in Heidi Sumsion and AnnaBeth Templeman.  AnnaBeth had a slower start to the season but she quickly picked up speed as she adjusted to the longer distance and ended up being one of the top freshman in the state.  Templeman was 2nd in the Medium School Race at NXR-SW with a time of 18:18.60 which would've put her 45th in the Championship race.  AnnaBeth also finished 39th in the seeded girls race at Footlocker West with a time of 19:24 which puts her over a lot of other girls that have been finishing over her throughout the season.
