Elyse Jessen of Alta ran a 57.49 as an opening time for the 400m when she won the Snow Canyon Invitational this past weekend. The BYU-bound senior is the second-fastest returner in the state for 400m and also showed off her speed in the 800m running 2:15.29. Jessen has hinted that she may expand her talents to the 1600m at some point this season. Elyse is already one of the best combo sprinters and mid-distance athletes in the state, and adding the 1600m to her profile would make her a versatile scorer at State.
