Tayson Echohawk probably had the best overall season this year with a strong start and finish to what would be a historic run for the junior out of Orem. Tayson started this roll with his runner-up performance, then his win at the BYU Autumn Classic and Border Wars. He then Battled it out with eventual 5A State champ Jefferson McMullin. Tayson ended the season with a new personal best for 5000m when he ran 14:24 at the Garmin RunningLane Championships and finished 11th overall in the field, earning him All-American status. Jaron Hartshorn of Lone Peak ends the season with the fastest 5000m time run on Utah soil, with his performance of 15:06 coming from the Utah State XC Championships, where he finished 2nd overall in the 6A race.
