Carlee Hansen Had Huge Double at Desert Dream Last Hurrah!

*Carlee Hansen after placing 2nd in the Desert Dream Last Hurrah Mile

Carlee Hansen of Woods Cross is one of the nations top available recruits for the class of 2021.  She ran her first full mile and 800m race of the outdoor season at the Desert Dream Last Hurrah Invitational. Hansen had a great indoor season where she ran times of 2:14.38 for 800m, 4:54.29 for 1600m, and 10:40.04 for 3200m.

Girls Mile

Carlee's first race was the mile which was run on Friday night in Arizona.  It was a loaded field with some of the nations most talented athletes for the event.  Hansen has a mile PR of 4:42.86 which she ran at the Brooks PR Invitational last year placing third overall in that race.  Hansen had a more conservative start in the mile and really made her move up to the front on the last lap and her outstanding kick carried her to a second place finish in a time of 4:49.05!

Girls 800

The next day Carlee again toed the line, this time in an elite 800m field where she came out on top winning in a time of 2:11.55 after being boxed in for a good portion of the race.  Carlee has the ability to sit and run with anybody, then make her move around them on the home stretch.  It's what she's been doing her entire high school career and it's how she has an average track place finish of 2nd and has won 37 out of her 45 outdoor/indoor track races in her career (not including prelims).
