It was another great season for distance running in our state, and the overall talent continues to evolve each year. One stat that should put the rest of the nation on notice was that we had 25 boys run under 4:20 in the 1600m at the state meet! Leading that charge was Farmington's Ethan Peterson, who won the 6A title with an overall time of 4:09, while his season-best came from the Arcaida Invitational, where he went as fast as 4:08. Two other athletes who broke 4:10 in the 1600m were Orem's Tayson Echohawk and Lone Peak's Jaron Hartshorn
In the 3200m, Jackson Henstrom of Corner Canyon posted the fastest overall time of the season when he raced in the historic arcadia 3200m, where he went 9:02.19 to finish 16th overall. The fastest 3200m run on Utah soil came from Jaron Hartshorn, who ran 9:03.05 at the BYU HS Invitational, which was the winning time from that meet.
