Sky View Alumni and NCAA Champion Conner Mantz had the opportunity to return to Balboa Park but this time as a coach for the west region team. Mantz has had plenty of experience racing at what once was called Footlocker Nationals now known as Eastbay, back in the day.
Conner first qualified for Footlocker as a sophomore in 2012 placing 4th overall in the west region and ending up 10th at nationals. Mantz would return to race this national race two more times with a 7th place finish in 2013 and 10th in 2014.
We all know Mantz's journey from there as he continued his running career at BYU where he went on to win two consecutive national championships for XC. Mantz was the coach you'd want giving you advice in a sport where he hasn't lost since who knows when on a course he knows how to race all too well.
