Utah Highlights From Arcadia Invite: American Fork Breaks National Record In 4x1600!

Provo High - 4:00.23 - 1st in Girls 1600 SMR Invitational

Following up on their great performance at the UVU Invitational last weekend, the girls of Provo High made their way to California to prove that they could compete with the best in the nation. In a zippy 4:00.23 (US#4) performance, the lady Bulldogs comfortably won the Girls 1600m Sprint Medley Relay Invitational by more than a full second over Lee's Summit West of Missouri.

Digging into the results a bit, you can see the value of the Hunter sisters to the Bulldog squad. Meghan Hunter ran a 55.8 for her 400m leg. While more than a second off from her UVU performance, it was the fastest 400m leg in the Invitational relay. Likewise, older sister Kate's 2:10.67 800m final leg was the fastest 800m in the race. This strong combination puts the Provo squad in rarefied air and makes them incredibly difficult to beat.

Lest I get too caught up in times, it is worth noting that the two 200m legs for the lady Bulldogs are currently being run by sophomores Ilene Winward and Ally Gomm, so any opposing coaches expecting the SMR reign to end any time soon may be sorely disappointed.
