The 5A Boys race last season was a great battle with two familiar faces in American Fork and Davis. American Fork had a very tight group at the front of the race and went on to win 29 to Davis’ 54. Also in the mix was Riverton, not far back with 74 points. American Fork went on to the highest finisher by a Utah School at the NXN meet, placing 2nd. Their team time of 1:18:18 was the second fastest team time ever, second only to the AF team of 2010 that ran 1:18.01. The Individual battle was also intense, and it took a 5A record run to win the race. Kramer Morton of Alta ran 15:13 to pull away from the AF and Davis pack.

The Utah High School State Track and Field Championships concluded today in Provo. It was an exciting day of competition in every classification. The weather was bi-polar as it was pouring rain one minute and sunny and hot the next. The athletes seemed more focused on winning a state championship than they were about the weather. The team titles on both the Girls and Boys side went to Davis High School as the Darts made it a three-peat. The individual events were exciting as well. Here is our event-by-event breakdown of the action.
Davis High School won the team title at both the girls and boys state championships in 2011 and 2012. They are poised for a three-peat as they look stronger than they ever have. With the #1 ranking in their classification in 11 events, they will look to pick up big points in every event in the meet.
Riverton High School played host to the Region 4 championships on Wednesday. The Riverton Boys made the most of the home track advantage, as the women couldn't match pace with a very strong Bingham team. Emily Rich of Bingham made a big contrubution to the Miners cause as she won the 800, 1600, and 3200 on the day. She did so in impressive fashion running 2:17 in the 800, and 5:09 in the 1600
It was a great day on the track today at BYU, as state records seemingly fell in event after event. When records are falling that frequently, it is hard to say what the performance of the day was. Every event was exciting and event could be considered the performance of the meet.

Every season many Utah athletes travel to Southern California for the Arcadia Invitational seeking personal bests and all time state bests. In two events they did just that. The most impressive performances of the meet came in the 3200m and the 4x400m.
Well it’s here, the Arcadia Invitational. For years now, the Arcadia Invitational in Southern California has been the place where Utah athletes and runners across the country go to set records. From personal records, all time state leaders, and National records, the Arcadia invitational is the place to be. This year will be no different. With over 70 of the top athletes from Utah making the trip down to the Los Angeles, it should be a great weekend for the local athletes.
Simplot Games is the highlight of the season for many Utah athletes. We broke down the meet based on the numbers.
