UHSTCA Athletes of the Week

After a week of vigorous competition throughout the state with 8 state qualifying meets we have our large and small division track and field athletes of the week! Congratulations to all who competed!
Large School Female Track Athlete of the Week: Brenna Porter Jr. Sky View
Brenna ran an incredible 56.52 400m to win the title at the Cache-Box meet crushing her competition and qualifying for state by over three and a half seconds. Last year Brenna took second at the state championships as only a sophomore and is continuing to look forward to another successful year.
Large School Male Track Athlete of the Week: Cale Strong Sr. Wasatch High
Cale Strong of Wasatch High School blew away the competition at the Hurricane Invite in the 110 Hurdles and earned a great time of 14.51 seconds. His mark is his new personal best and the fastest this season.
Large School Female Field Athlete of the Week: Megan Glasmann Jr. Park City
Megan Glasmann, a junior from Park City and last week’s athlete of the week, bested her javelin mark by over a foot at 134 feet and 3 inches, giving her the best ranking in the state and the title of the UHSTCA outdoor championships in the Javelin.
Large School Male Field Athlete of the Week: Skyler Porcaro So. Maple Mountain
Skyler Porcaro, a Sophomore at Maple Mountain took first place in the Javelin at the Herriman Invitational with the mark of 189 feet and 3 inches This incredible mark puts him number one in the rankings for the state with second place over ten feet behind him. He is one to keep an eye on throughout the season.
Small School Female Track Athlete of the Week: Lyna Garcia Jr. St. Joseph Catholic
Running the 1600m in 5:34 Lyna Garcia locked up this week’s award and qualified for state by fifteen seconds where last year she took fifth and hopes to improve upon that placing this year.
Small School Male Track Athlete of the Week: Macoy Young Fr. Duchesne High
Macoy Young of Duchesne High School won the 200 meter race at the Big Red Invite with a time of 23.29 seconds. His score helped Duchesne to a Second place finish at the Big Red Invite.
Small School Female Field Athlete of the Week: Schyler Jordan Fr. Beaver High
Schyler Jordan, a Freshman from Beaver high school tied for first in the high jump at the Delta High invitational at 5 feet 1 inch. This mark puts her second in the rankings of the small schools thusfar in the season.
Small School Male Field Athlete of the Week: Max Lewis Fr. Duchesne High
Showing the strength and depth of Duschene Max Lewis, a Freshman took first place at the Big Red invitational with the mark of 133 feet and 6 inches which puts him at second for small school rankings for the season. Max and Macoy young bring on the heat for the small school competitions.
