Preview: 2022 Utah 2A Girls Cross Country State Meet

Individuals

Kenidee Glazier of Kanab has had one heck of a high school career debut and has already risen to be one of the fastest freshmen across all classifications in the State of Utah.  Glazier has PRs of 18:03.50 for three miles and 18:07.30 for 5000m.  Those times alone could make Glazier a threat to anyone in almost any other classification, but Kenidee stands over a minute ahead of her nearest competitor.  Leading the chase pack could be our defending 2A state Champion Kyra Moat who won the State meet last year as just a freshman.  Moat has had a pretty good season as well and has shown some promising improvement over her freshman year.

Other bubble athletes to watch out for are Chayden Sargent and Julia Rust, both of North Summit.

Teams

For the past several years, the 2A girls classification has been dominated by North Summit, who won state last year, and Millard, who took the title the year before.  Both schools are favored to take podium spots this season, and North Summit looks poised to defend its title.  Led by freshman Chayden Sargent and sophomore Julia Rust, they lead a squad that averages a 20:18 5000m team that is good enough to shake it up with schools in the 3A and possibly even 4A classifications.  Millard has the defending overall champ Kyra Moat on their side, and they'll need her and senior Kara Camp to break up that North Summit lead pack if they hope to take the title home to Fillmore this year.
