2022 Utah UHSAA State T&F Championships

We have arrived at the final day of competition as new state champions are crowned for 2022.  It was a big moment for the Egbert family as Senior Jackson Egbert and Freshman Abby Egbert of Orem took home the gold in the 300H.

Jackson and Abby shared an incredible moment as the talented sibling duo both got to share gold for the same event in the last in-season high school track meet that they would be able to compete together.

Abby was the first to win when she ran 44.28 to edge out the defending state champion Sydney Watson of Springville and take her first-ever individual state title.  Abby didn't go far after her event as she stayed close to watch her older brother Jackson compete in the same event.

Jackson watched his sister win and felt a bit of pressure from himself not to let his younger sister outperform him in the event he had mentored her in.

Jackson took off in his final and crossed the line in first with a time of 37.88.

Both Jackson and Abby finished first in their classifications, but they also had the top overall time of the meet, AND their times are also the total times run in the 300H on Utah soil for the 2022 season.

This is a moment in which these two siblings will share for a long time.
