Elias Gerald Wins Nike Indoor Nationals High Jump Title

Senior Elias Gerald of Westlake had a stellar indoor season in the high jump. He capped off the incredible journey by winning the Nike Indoor Nationals High Jump Final.

Elias won the meet with a mark of 6-11, finishing well ahead of the field. Elias's best mark in the High Jump came from the Salem Indoor Field Invitational, where he cleared 7-2 to set a new Indoor State record, and it appears that his mark of 7-2 will finish the season at the top of the national High Jump rankings.

Gerald has got some big goals he wishes to accomplish this outdoor season, including breaking the overall state record in the high jump, which just happens to be the same as his current PR, 7-2. Elias currently shares the 6A state record of 7-0 with Connor Saunders of Syracuse when they both cleared 7-0 at the 2021 Utah State Track & Field ChampionshipsGerald also mentioned in his interview above that he is focused on breaking the national high jump record this spring which is currently held by Andra Manson, who jumped 7-7 back in 2002.
