Carlee Hansen Named Utah Gatorade XC Athlete of The Year!

Senior Carlee Hansen of Woods Cross was just named the Utah Girls Gatorade XC Athlete of the Year for 2020!  It was a well-deserved award seeing how Hansen went undefeated against the in-state competition for her final year of cross county

    Carlee has accomplished a lot throughout her 4 years at Woods Cross and will go down as one of the greatest distance athletes in Utah state history!  Some of those accomplishments are as follows. 6 time State Champion, 5A 1600m State record holder, National All-American, Multiple National Appearances, and all-time bests of 4:42.86 for the full mile 10:40.04 for 3200m, and 16:57.70 for 5000m.

    Hansen has committed to run for the University of North Carolina, where she will continue her successful career as a Tarheel with one of the most stacked recruiting classes this country has ever seen!  Carlee is excited about the future and has the ability to train and compete with some of the best athletes in the country!

    Carlee is ready to go out with a bang this spring and showed us that she isn't playing around anymore when she lead the 1600m field at the Alpha Invitational and won the meet in a new state-leading time of 4:56.20.  Hansen historically has been the type of athlete to sit and out-kick her competition in the final moments of the race. Still, her last victory at Timpanogos was a bit off-script from the usual strategy we see, and she went straight to the front and dictated the race from the second the pistol went off.  Carlee is a versatile weapon, and adding this skill to her bag of tricks will make her a deadly opponent for the state championship and post-season competition!
