Salute To Seniors: Jessica Hill (Pine View)

Want To Be Our Next Senior Salute? Find Out How!

School: Pine View

What was your most memorable race/throw/jump/vault/moment?

My most memorable moment would probably be when I won region cross country my junior year. I led from the gun and had girls on my tail the whole time. I was racing against some really good competition so I had to push myself really hard physically and mentally to come out on top. It came down to a sprint off at the end, and I usually tell myself I can't kick, but I said screw that and kicked my hardest I ever had

Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years?

All the girls in Region 9. Our region is full of great athletes and it's tough

What was your greatest accomplishment?

My greatest accomplishment would be winning state with my team 3/4 years of high school and getting 13th at Nike southwest my sophomore year. It's the best feeling to have your hard work pay off

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

Not much but I would say that high school goes really fast so learn to enjoy it even when it's hard

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

Injuries were a hard thing to get through but also working your hardest and seeing no results. Sometimes that happens and you just have to trust in the process because things will workout eventually.

What will you miss the most?

I'll miss all my friends I've made through this sport and my awesome coaches

What advice would you give to younger athletes?

Always try your best and work your hardest. To me there's no point in doing something and not trying your best at it bc then it's just a waist of time

What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?

My coaches have helped me sooooo much. They're both my friends as well as my coaches so training is fun and they help me reach my potential. They want what's best for me and I want to do my best for them. Along with running, they remind me to always do my best in everything I do and they remind me of how blessed I really am.

What are your college plans?

I signed to run at Weber state and it's gonna be freakin dope

Who would you like to say thank you to?

Thanks to my fam and my coaches. My parents help me accomplish my goals and never hold me back. They support me through everything and push me to do my best and they're cool and I love them. Also to my coaches, as I talked about before, they're actually the best coaches in the world so go them. Next to my grandparents they come to tons of my races and cheer me on and it's the best. Lastly to my teammates who've been there for me and helped me grow up to be a decent human being and pushed me to do my best

Is there anything else you'd like to add?

That's it. Enjoy high school it goes way too fast
