Boys Recap: Pineview Prevails

In the pre-race preview I selected Timpanogos as the team to beat. In that preview I had them winning by a narrow margin, little did I know they would lose by 5 points to a strong and determined Pineview team. Close, but no cigar. Led by individual standouts Trevor Thompson and Kory Kimzy, the Pineview team would not be denied. Pineview and Timpanogos placed 3rd and 4th at the BYU Invitational a week ago. Intersetingly enough, both teams topped Davis who finished 2nd at the BYU Invitational.

Steve Morrin would destroy the field in an incredible 15:54.1 performance over the difficult 5000 meter course. Battling Ogden star Jacob Barton, Morrin ran to victory. Barton finished second for the second straight week. Incidently, Davis JV team scored 15 points to sweep the top 5 places, and brought home 7 in the top 9 for a team average which would have placed 6th in the overall race. Davis is deep, with this type of depth Davis is stacking for years to come.

Girls Recap: Park City steps up to #1

In a race which would decide who the states premier overall team would be, Park City delivered impressively. Dramatically improving upon the BYU Invitational victory the team continues there dominance in the state. The ever improving American Fork ladies could only muster another runner-up finish as the top 5A team in the state will set sights on continual improvement and a eventual rematch with Park City. Like the boys, Timpanogos girls improved from a week ago to rise above Ogden and finish 4th in the Utah Super-Meet.

Davis standout Meghan Hedquist ran to victory in an impressive 19:03.0 avenging a BYU Invitational loss to Box Elder's Kelsey Braithwaitew ho would finish second. The Davis girls would finish third in the team race.
