2019 Highland Invitational Recap

This was probably one of the deepest boy's fields of the season.  Eleven of the top 15 preseason boys were in this race and now we have a clearer picture of how this season could play out.

As expected Thomas Boyden of Skyline and Mark Boyle of Corner Canyon made it a two-man race as both dipped under the 14:50 with Boyden winning in 14:47.7, just ahead of Boyle (14:48.0) as they finished 20 seconds ahead of the next finisher, Joshua Armstrong from Hurricane

After that, a slew of Corner Canyon and Farmington Boys came across the line, but Corner Canyon came out on top putting four runners in before Farmington's 2nd on the way to a 57-108 victory.  Timpanogos, Herriman, and Hurricane rounded out the top five teams.

Varsity Girls Race

The girl's side of things had quite of few surprising performances from some returning individuals.  Timpview managed to place their top two girls in the top three spots overall. It was a great performance by Jaroldeen Oveson, and Summer Lundberg who both dipped under 18 minutes.  Emma Thornley of Layton was the one to break up the duo finishing in 2nd,  Kylah Ricks of Grand County was the last person to break the 18-minute barrier finishing in 17:59.50.  The team battle was won by Springville who won with 73 points and they put their 7th runner in before any other team's 3rd.  It should also be known that Springville did run without their top runner Heidi Sumsion who is one of the top distance prospects in the State.  Springville really showcased their depth and had a 30-second spread between their top 5.  Farmington finished 2nd led by Elisabeth Ferrell who finished 5th overall in the race,  next came Skyline, Timpview, and Herriman to round out the top 5.
