Weekend Preview: Big Meets at Westlake, Park City, and Cedar wrap up the "regular season" showdowns

-

Well it’s October, and that means championship XC season. Tomorrow kicks off the last weekend for big meets before the Regional and State meets which are just a few weeks ahead. Three Big meets fill the schedule this weekend, one at Cedar, one at Park City, and the biggest of the weekend at West Lake. Here is a little taste of what is to come tomorrow evening.

Westlake XC Classic- Coach Robison of Westlake sent out this media release today in preparation for the showdown tomorrow:  “I just thought I would give the media a heads up of our meet tomorrow has shaped into one of the greatest events ever held in Utah. The newest National Top 40 rankings have come out and the following teams in that ranking will be racing:

Girls:

#1 Davis (yes that is #1 in the nation!!!)

#33 American Fork

Boys:

#3 American Fork

#13 Lone Peak

#18 Bingham

#36 Orem

#38 Davis

This meet will include a few other teams that are right on the cusp of national ranking as well.

The schedule goes as follows:

4:00pm - JV Girls

4:30pm - JV Boys

5:00pm - Varsity Girls

5:30pm - Varsity Boys

Hope to see you tomorrow! “

Park City Invitational- The Miners of Park City also will be hosting their big meet of the season this weekend, and with the area the course is run in, you can expect a great course and great races to watch. Timpanogos HS has had a great season so far, perhaps surprising a few teams in the process. They are heading to Park City to challenge the miners, who will look to defend their home course. Alta will also be attending, which means Kramer Morton will be the name to watch up front. Ricky Faure of Rock Springs Wyoming made a name for himself last season on multiple occasions, coming to Utah and racing with the best of the state. He will look to keep pace with Morton tomorrow. Also watch for the Riverton Boys.  On the Girls side of things, Park City has Alyssa Snyder and Maddie Criscione that will do battle with the 1-2 punch from Timpanogos of Mary Christensen and Rachel Bocanegra. Kashley Carter of Juab and Tavia Dutson of Jordan will mix it up with them as well.

Cedar Invitational- Cedar High School will draw all the top teams from the southern part of the state to their invite Friday night. Top competition there, in addition to the home team includes; Desert Hills, Dixie, Snow Canyon, Timp View, and Pine View. Aimee Bryson will look to lead the girls race, while Pine view duo of Byron Warby and Taylor Abel are two of the top in the state so far, and will look to hold off the deep Desert Hills pack.
