Weekend Preview: Over 65 teams set for the Murray Invitational

-

This week already saw great mid-week competition, with a shootout at Westlake on Wednesday night. American Fork and Lone Peak boys are two of the top teams in the entire SW region, not to mention the state, and they went head to head at the Pre-Region 4 meet, with the Cavemen coming out on top with a staggering 29 points. The Pre-Region 3 meet was also on Wednesday, and turned out to be the Bingham show with the Miners winning in impressive fashion.

There are more races tonight to lead us into the weekend. Athletes across the state and coming in from Colorado will be meeting in Monticello for the 2013 Lloyds Lake Classic tonight.

Also Friday afternoon will be the Murray Invitational. Murray entries Include talented teams from Davis, Park City, American Fork, Ogden, Cedar, Mountain Crest, Mountain View, and the list goes on.

The team battle will be intense with well over 65 teams bringing athletes to the meet. The Individual title will be up for grabs and could be another showdown between the states two top Footlocker hopes. Alta’s Kramer Morton is entered in the meet and is coming off a great leg at the AF Grass Relays last weekend. Connor Mantz is slated to make the trek down from the Cache Valley to duel with Morton again as it is always close when these two race.

On the girls side of things, Aimee Bryson is set to make the drive from Cedar City to battle with Ogden star Sarah Feeny. Feeny dominated the season opener at Highland and looks to continue in top form tonight.

The Utah State  Aggies are also host their invitational tomorrow morning in Logan to roundout weekend action. This is weekend is by no means an easy week even though most athletes likely not having tapered for these big meets.
