SUU to host High School XC Championship tomorrow morning in Cedar City.

The Southern Utah Thunderbirds will be hosting their XC invitational Saturday morning at the Bicentennial Park in Cedar City.  Most of the top teams from the southern half of the state will be competing. With a 30% chance of thunderstorms tomorrow in Cedar City, the meet has the potential to be a messy one, which if you think about it, is what Cross Country is all about. No matter the conditions, there is one thing you can be sure of; this meet will be a great battle between all of the top talent from Cedar City, St. George,Richfield, and the surrounding areas.

Currently there are 17 teams entered in the meet, Including Pine View, Cedar, Desert Hills, and Hurricane. Aimee Bryson and the Lady Reds of Cedar are the favorite heading in to the meet. They won last week at the Hurricane Invite, and look to stay perfect through 2 weeks of the season. The are also the winners of this meet last season, beating out Pine View and Desert Hills.

Bryson was last years XC state champion, as well as the 400m and 800m state champion from the track. The rest of the competition will be doing all they can to Keep Aimee in sight, and even if they do, her 400m/800m speed will be should be all she needs to run away with this one. Last week she was followed by Courtney Allred of Desert Hills, and Kamryn Watts of Hurricane. This could very well be the order they finish in tomorrow, as there was just enough distance between each, and they are all favored above the crowd.

On the Boys side of the competition, Nephi Eschler of Hurricane will look to remain undefeated on the season. He won last week on his home course, but was followed closely by Joshua Thatcher of Desert Hills and Eric Lambert of Cedar. With a lot more teams competing at this meet it will be a great battle for the boys title.

Results we be posted as soon as they become available.
