Girls Highlights

Mandee Christensen of Manti set a 2a state record earlier this season in the girls Javelin, though it was subsequently broken. She won the region 16 championships this week and will be throwing against Lyman of Enterprise at state in what should be a great event. She was the lone athlete to reach a National Silver Standard at the region 16 meet, but there was plenty of other great competition.

Jack Mculloch of Wasatch Acadamy won both the 1600 and 3200m and was a close 2nd in the 800 scoring 28 points for his school in the open events alone.

McCall Grajek of Gunnison Valley won both hurdle events, the 300 hurdles in a very dominant 48.79.  She also won the Long Jump.

Manti won the girls team competition and 7 individual events, while the Gunnison Valley won the Boys title and 5 individual events.

Region 17 Meet

Nick Edwards had a great week last week winning the Athlete of the Meet award at the BYU invitational. He carried that momentum into the Region 17 meet as he won the 100m dash, the 200m dash,  the 400m dash and the 4x100m Relay. He led a very furious charge by Layton Christian Academy as they won the region meet with over 300 points.

On the Womens Side, Nick’s Teammate Alissa Atisme’s story was much the same. She won the Athlete of the meet award at BYU. She won the 100m Dash, the 200m dash, and the 400m Dash and the Long Jump. It was a great meet for her.
