Dixie Invite Recap: Sarah Feeny's New State Record

 

Sarah Feeny is in top form as she dominated the competition at the Dixie Invitational in St. George this weekend. She won 3 events and in the end set a new 3a State record in the girls 3200m.

Sarah beat the very talented Aimee Bryson as she won the 1600m in 4:53.10, which is the second fastest time in the state this year. She then came back to win the 800m with a time of 2:18. She capped off her great weekend with her record performance in the 3200m where she broke the 3a state record held by Jamie Stokes. Stokes, also of Ogden High, set the record last year with a time of 10:43.43. Feeny Smashed that time as her official time was 10:37.40.

A few other notable performances from the meet also came from Ogden.  Jordan Cross won the Boys 3200m run with a 9:15. Michael Finch of Pine view came in behind Jordan with a 9:31 followed closely by Mike Buckley also of Ogden at 9:32.

Finch of Pine View also won the Boys 1600m with a time of 4:23.80.

Aimee Bryson Came back from her 5:00.10 1600m to win the girls 400m Dash with a time of 57.20 which is the second best time in the state this year.

Brigham Whitney of Desert Hills ran the second best 800m time in the state of Utah this season with a time of 1:56.10.  Jordan Cross was 2nd in the race with a 1:58.

Brad Wulfenstein tied his season best and state leading mark of 14.48 in the 110 Hurdles.

Blake Kvartfordt of Desert Hills won the discus with a season best throw of 151-5 which is the 5th best throw in the state this season.

Jodi Aitui of Pine View won the Girls Shot Put with a throw of 40’4.5”. Her mark was one inch behind her season best and she is second in the state this season behind Kassie Nagel of Morgan.

In the Girls 300h Riley Lyman of Enterprise won with a time of 45.17. She was followed by Olivia Leavitt of Desert Hills at 46.08.
