The Olympic Oval in Kearns always produces great times and close competition. This weekend was no different. Most of the states' top talent competed at the meet and some very impressive marks were posted. Here is an event by event breakdown of the meet.

Seth Fortin of Davis sprinted away with the win in the Boys 60m Dash. His time of 6.95 is the 3rd best time in the state this year and .02 off his season best. He beat out Sean Barton of Woods Cross and Sam Roberts of Alta.

Boys 200m Dash-

Earlier this season, Derek Lord of Woods Cross  set the Indoor state record in the 60m dash with a mark of 6.89. This weekend he tried his had at the 200m dash. It went well for him, though he couldn’t hold off his own teammate, Jacopo Spano. They went 1-2 and Michael Bluth of Riverton was 3rd.

Boys 400m Dash-

In the meet preview we asked if anyone could break up the Riverton domination. Cam Dopp of Woods Cross did just that. Dopp posted a time of 49.43 barely edging out Michael Bluth of Riverton.  The Riverton duo of Bluth and Lambourne both set season bests nabbing 2nd and 3rd in 49.48 and 50.38

Boys 1600m Run-

The Boys ran a very strategic race… coming through the 800 in 2:18. They left it all for a fast final lap where Ricky Faure of Rock Springs Wyoming pulled out the win. Jake Heslington of Timpanogos was 2nd with Preston Johnson of Davis in 3rd.

Boys 3200m Run-

Ben Saarel made his indoor debut this weekend, running the 3200m at the meet. Ben had a very impressive 2012 XC season and picked up right where he left off. He won the 3200 mile with a time of 9:10.85. This mark is #4 all-time indoor for the state of Utah and #3 in the US this year. Look for Ben to chase state records come Outdoor season.  Jordon Cross of Ogden was 2nd and his time of 9:19 should not be overlooked either. That time puts him 8th in the US so far this season as well. No word as of yet for whats up next for Cross but with Simplot looming, expect him to continue a fantastic 2013 campaign.

Boys 60m Hurdles

Cam Dopp of Woods Cross doubled back from his 400m win on Friday night to win the 60m Hurdles final. He posted a time of 8.35 to beat Brad Wulfenstein of Desert Hills by .1 Second.
