In every competition on Saturday, the best in Utah lined up against each other, and the result was a state lead in almost every event. Jackson Spencer, Josh Hamblin, and Kiera Sam Fong took it a step further by breaking a Utah state record in their event.
Below, check out the highlights from the historic 2026 PACS BYU Invitational and see who you'll need to watch at this year's state championship in a couple of weeks.

State Records
After his iconic performances in April, winning the Aracida Invitational 3200m and 3:58 mile, Jackson Spencer broke the Utah state record in the 800m. He ran 1:49.38 to win a tightly contested 800m by only a mere 0.48 seconds over Peter Mecham from Orem. This could mark the start of a historic May, during which he could chase the 1600m (4:01.27) and 3200m (8:36.79) state records held by Daniel Simmons.
Joshua Hamblin (Weber) - 110mH, 13.55 & 300mH, 35.35
Each week, Josh Hamblin continues to redefine what sprinters are capable of in Utah by securing two state records at the BYU Invitational. First, he dominated the 110m hurdles to run 13.55 and improve from his previous best of 13.73 set back in March. Then, in the 300m hurdles, he extended his undefeated 300m hurdles season with a blistering 35.35. Hamblin leapfrogged hurdles greats to U.S. #8 all-time in high school history.
Kiera Sam Fong (Pine View) - Discus, 167-8.5
All year, Kiera Sam Fong has proven to be the best discus thrower in Utah, but her final throw at the BYU Invitational cemented her status as the best discus thrower in Utah's history. On her final throw, she launched the discus 167-8.5 feet, breaking the state record and moving up to U.S. #6 this season. This was her first throw over 160 feet, placing her in new territory as the state championships approach.
Herriman Boys - 1600m Sprint Medley Relay, 3:27.31
The team, comprising Jett Burbidge, Krew Olson, Jackson Spencer, and Trevin Lounsbury, ran 3:27.37 to break the boys' sprint medley meet record. This accomplishment is the cherry on top of the great legacy Herriman continues to build during the 2020s, from cross country to the track.
