Cooper Bybee of Lone Peak finished the State meet with the fastest time by a freshman by going 16:10 on the 5000m course. Bybee finished 44th overall in a deep 6A field and was just eight seconds ahead of the next fastest freshman Cole Jameson of Taylorsville. Joey Rees of Springville was the fastest freshman in the 5A classification finishing 48th overall in a time of 16:53. Ben Ralphs of Millard had the highest placement of all freshman finishing seventh overall in the 3A classification race and helping his team win the 3A State title!
