*Oakley Olson places 4th overall in the 3200m
Oakley Olson of Morgan high school traveled out East this past weekend to race in the highly competitive VA Showcase, and Olson ran some elite times of 4:58.88 in the mile and 10:48.67 in the 3200m.
Oakley moved to Utah from Maryland over the summer and just finished her first season for Morgan with a runner-up finish at State, and she led her new squad to the team title as well!
Adjusting to Utah's high elevation is an excruciating process, but Oakley handled the change like a pro, and she looks poised to be one of the top distance runners going into the track season.
Oakley joined the sub-five club for the mile along with the sub 10:50 club in the 3200m. Oakley is the only athlete in Utah state history to record a sub-five Full Mile along with a sub 10:50 3200m in an indoor season.
Olson is now second all-time for the indoor full mile, right behind Courtney Wayment, who ran 4:56.94 at the Jackson Invitational in 2016, and she now ranks 6th on the all-time list for the indoor 3200m.
Running under five minutes for a full mile was one of the goals Oakley mentioned in her senior spotlight that she wished to accomplish before she graduates.
