Nebo Invitational (UT): US#10 American Fork runs wild over competition in Utah. Over the first flat 3.01 mile course that the team has been able to compete on, the Timo Mostert Coached program did not disappoint. Sending a message across the Southwest and perhaps the country the Cavemen averaged 15:24 for 3.01 miles at 4700 feet altitude. Course was measured before and after race with both a wheel and GPS, is confirmed to be 3.01 miles. Placing all five scorers in the top 9, this was by far the best team performance in Utah team cross country history within the State of Utah. Led by individual standout Austin West's impressive 14:56.27, the team filed in very close, 3. Clayton Young 15:16.43; 5. Mack Morrison 15:23.83; 7. Robbie Lee 15:39.81; 9. Jeff Nelson 15:47.64. American Fork wins with 25 points over the 17 team field. Hows that for an impact? Here is a brief explaination of the boys race, the boys varsity raced last and put on a show. The boys were all within 20 seconds of each other at the mile mark in 5:00 to 5:20. The top 5 were still within 13 seconds of each other at the 2 mile, Corey and Brian only another 20-26 seconds back. Austin battled Steve Morrin of Lone Peak up until the last 200 meters where Austin dropped the hammer and won by 4 seconds in a probable 3 mile school record of 14:56 with a 4:48 last mile! Clayton kicked in to claim 3rd in 15:16, followed by Mack (5-15:23), Robby (7-15:39), and Jeff(9-15:47) to score 25 points and claim a 4th champion's trophy of the afternoon. Corey finished 15th in 16:08 and Brian 16th in 16:13. Astounding! The top 5 cumulative time of 77:01 is over 1:30 faster than the teams previous best at Scera Park 2 years ago. Meet Page

 

Orem Kiwanis Park Invitational (UT): In a surprising turn of events Bingham bounces back from several off weeks to claim the overall combined boys team championship over a slew of top ranked teams. Over the 30 team meet which included Utah powerhouses Pleasant Grove and Alta, Bingham scores 89 points with five in the top 30. Garrett Jones from Alta claims the individual title in 16:19. On Saturday, Alta girls finish 2nd the UT#1 Park City girls in combined team scoring 43-140 to Park City. Greeley, CO finished 3rd in overall team scoring with 163 points. However, Alta did claim the 5A team championship with 63 points. UT#1 Park City continues their quest for a state championship claiming the 1-3A team championship.  Meet Page

 

Bob Firman Invitational (ID): In a surprise turn of events, Mountain View, UT boys and girls win the Northwest Supermeet team titles. In a shocker, Mountain View defeats US#14 North Central 75-100. Running a 10 second 1-5 spread Mountain View overwhelmed the defending national champions with a team effort. Boys individual crown would go to Gig Harbor's Conner Peloquin who won with 15:39.80. In the girls race, Mountain View, UT likewise had an impressive 1-5 spread of 43 seconds to defeat Davis for the team championship.
