The UHSTCA Indoor Championships are known for its fast distance times, especially from the 1600m.  Over the years we've seen as many as eight top 15 times run in the same race.  This year we will be treated to see junior Peter Visser of Star Valley Wyoming face off against NXN All-American Carson Belnap of Stansbury.  Visser has a seed time of 4:24 to Belnap's seed time of 4:28.

Girls 400m

Adi Nielson (Delta) vs Brilee Pontius (Westlake) vs Alison Richter (Lone Peak)

*Adi Nielson of Gold Medal Athletics after winning the 400m at the BYU HS Indoor Invitational.

Adi Nielson from Delta (but represent GMA during the indoor season) is entering this meet with a photo finish win over club teammate Brilee Pontius at the BYU Indoor meet last weekend.  She will be challenged by Alison Richter of Lone Peak who also ran at BYU but was not in the faster heats due to not having a seed time.  Rest assured, Richter's seed time of 58.6 will get her into the heat she needs to be in to face off with Nielson and Pontius.  These three girls running together will make for a dramatic finish seeing as they are only separated by .6 seconds!

Boys 4x800m

Corner Canyon vs Snow Canyon

*Corner Canyon after winning the 2018 UHSTCA Indoor Championships

Corner Canyon cruised to an easy win in the 4x800m last year when they finished 25 seconds over their nearest competitor.  This year they will be running 4 guys who made the podium at the XC State meet this past fall.  Coming off their nationals high and being led by standout seniors Easton Allred and Mark Boyle, these boys are looking to run a fast time and set them selves up for a good showing at NBN Indoors down the road.  Corner Canyon will be challenged by Snow Canyon who is led by the State's top returning 800m runner Zarek Proffit.  Proffit ran his indoor personal best in the 800m at this meet last year when he went 1:58 to finish 4th overall.  Snow Canyon will be running 4 guys who have all run 2:07 or faster (Two of them running sub 2) . This two school schould make for an interesting matchup and hopefully we could see a sub 8 performance.  There have only been seven schools in the country who have ran sub eight for the 4x800m relay so far this season.
