Boys Recap: Bingham is back!

In old school Bingham fashion, the miner's from South Jordan travelled to compete in the Tooele Invitational. Over a swift 3-mile course Bingham utterly dominated the filed. With many boys varsity runners dropping a full minute from 2008, the miner's have set the stage for a historic showdown with American Fork.

Breaking it down, the front four for Bingham ran a 10 second spread! Led by Jeremy Troff in 15:26, they filed in Austin Smith 15:28, Mike McPherson 15:35, Jeff Hymas 15:36 and Woody Smith rounding it out with 16:20. Hymus improved 47 seconds from '08 and Troff improved 58 seconds from '08. McPherson improved 1:11 seconds from '08. Upon closer review, if we convert the 3-mile times to the 5K distance Bingham is running about a 16:08 average for 5K. Amazing! Bingham took the team title by scoring 25 points.

Jamal Tongu, the Cyprus standout who was heavily favored coming into the season as an individual dominated with an impressive 15:24, a new course record. The previous 3-mile record was held by West Jordan's  Jeff Walker who ran a 15:32 in 2008.

Girls Recap: Bingham Dominates!

Scoring a low 18 points requires true team strength against 5A division teams. Bingham did just that as they swept the Tooele Invitational 3-mile course as only the miner's could. Laura Young took top honors winning in 18:30, she was followed closely by 2. Brianna Calveri 18:37, and 3. Brandy Peterson 18:44. Emily Rich came in 5th with 19:16 and Alexis Moon 7th in 19:44.  In 5A Bingham looks for a showdown with American Fork and Davis for 5A dominance.
