1A-5A Records
Girls
Only two records went down in 1A-5A for the girls, both of which were 2A. First was Jaslyn Gardner of Enterprise who ran 11.84 in the 100m Finals and the second record was done by Sadie Sargent who ran 2:10.78 in the 800m. Sadie came so close to breaking the 2A record in the 3200m as well. She came so close just finishing a second too late as she crossed the line in a new PR of 10:35.59. You can bet that Sadie will be back to break that record at the State meet next weekend to end her senior year.
Boys
5 records went down in the 1A-5A divisions and we'll have to star with 1A and work our way up. In 1A it was Cameron Franklin of Valley who broke the 400m record in 48.80. Next up in 2A, it was the king of throws, Austin Carter of Beaver who threw 66-5 which ranks him at U.S. #8! Carter is closing in on the overall state record of 66-6.5 which was set back in 2004 by Mountain View's Leif Arrehnius. In 3A it was none other then the man himself Dallin Draper, who ran 21.12 in the 200m to break Hunter Woodhall's overall record of 21.17! Dallin also came so close to getting the overall state record in the 100m which is 10.47. Conveniently, 10.47 is also the 3A state record so Dallin know's that if he wants a 100m record, 10.47 is the time to beat. Also a fun fact for you, 10.47 was run by Brian Hazelgren of Murray back in 1987! In 4A, it was Keivontae Washington of Snow Canyon who ran 10.57 in the 100m to earn himself a runner up spot to Dallin Draper. Washington's time puts him in the top 3 all time in the state of Utah! The final record that went down was run by East's Will Prettyman who finished 3rd in the loaded 100m finals, running a new PR of 10.61!
