Austin Carter helped us figure out the exact distance from the shot put circle to the wall at Weber State University's indoor track facility. Sixty one feet and 9 inches to be exact as the senior from Beaver High School in Utah hit the wall with his best throw in the shot put competition at this past weekend's Weber State Invitational.
A mark which ranks sixth nationally for Carter, but unfortunately due to the wall barrier, limited how much further the throw could have gone for an even greater personal best performance up the national rankings.
Carter is a defending two-time state outdoor champion in the event and had entered this season with a 57'3" best from last spring. Two weeks prior at the BYU Invitational, Carter bested that mark with a winning performance of 59'9" before throwing over 60 feet for the first time at Weber State.
