The Weber State Meet saw a lot of new faces for this season and a few familiar ones from the BYU meet. We also saw four U.S. top 10 performances as well!
Girls Pole Vault
The girls Pole Vault was by far the greatest event at this meet. We saw 7th Grader Sabrina Fairbanks, and 8th Grader India Ortiz, both vault U.S. number one's for their Class. I would like to add that India's vault of 11-0 at weber was lower then her 11-2 performance at the Summit the week before but her vault at Weber would still have been a number one if she hadn't landed 11-2 earlier. These two Middle School athletes are both represented by the Utah Pole Vaulting Academy Club. They train together with other top Pole Vaulters in the State including Hannah Stetler, who as of now owns the 18th best mark for the class of 2020 in the nation! The UTPVA is producing an impressive amount of nationally elite talent, for a State that has a limited amount of Pole Vaulters due to the fact that only 6A schools compete in the Pole Vault. We will be seeing these three girls and the rest of their club at the UHSTCA this upcoming weekend, and it is sure to be even better then this past meet!
Boys Shot Put
Austin Carter of Beaver did not disappointed as he threw for 61-9 in the Shot Put! Not only is that a new indoor PB for Carter, but it is an overall PB! He currently stands at 5th in the nation and he's not done yet. Austin said he will be at Simplot next and he plans on chasing the State Record of 66-6.5 once the outdoor season begins.
