I woke up at 4 AM to drive to SLC airport with my parents. We flew to Seattle where we met with Pat Smyth, Thom Hunt, Ed Eyestone and John Dressel, then had a long flight to Shanghai. John and I were fortunate to sit together and so we were able to talk about how our training has been going and stuff. We arrived in Shanghai and met with others before getting to Guiyang at night. The next day we ran around a lake which was in a park near the hotel. It was nice and easy so we were able to enjoy the interesting architecture of China.

Later, my parents, John (we were roommates) and I went to Walmart which was the closest store. It wasn't anything at all like Wal-Mart in the U.S. First off, it smelled awful. That was the least different part of it. There were plenty of exotic fish, turtles, chicken feet, frogs, and other strange things in the meat area. We bought some candy and bread before leaving. I didn't like any of it. The bread tasted horrid(It had some strange orange stuff on it), and the candy was bizarre too. I spit them out immediately after trying them. After this I went to sleep (it was about 2:30), but woke up for dinner before going back to sleep at 9. I didn't sleep very well any of the nights. I consistently would wake up anywhere from 2 to 4 and I fell asleep at 9:00 most nights.
