Across the state this week some athletes are wrapping up their track season, while others are extending it as they qualify for the state championships. By region we will highlight a few of the notable performances and also include the national elite marks.

Region 9 Championships

Meet Results

Canyon View High School Played host to the Region 9 championships on Wednesday. In the Girls team competition Cedar High School won the region title. Their star Aimee Bryson did more than enough in her contribution to the team title, as she won every event from 200m to 1600m. Cedar won over Desert Hills and Hurricane who both tied with 114 points on the day.

Brad Wulfenstein of Desert Hills helped greatly in his teams push for a region title. Brad is ranked #1 in the state for the 110 Hurdles, and used that speed to win that event, along with the 100m Dash, and the the 300 Hurdles. Another Notable Performance was the battle in the boys 1600 where Jason Quinn of Dixie won in 4:22 over Brigham Whitney of Desert Hills.

Region 10 Championships

Meet Results

Park City has great depth in the Girls side of things that makes them a big threat to the entire 3A next week. They dominated the Region 10 Championships thanks to scoring insane amounts of points in the distance events without even stacking the events as much as they could have. With so much talent and depth, often the girls just behind the team leaders go unnoticed. So today we notice these girls. Sophi Mcdonald dominated the 3200m run, winning by nearly 30 seconds. Another very talented Park City athlete is Maddie Criscione, who won the 400m dash win a time of 48.86. She has a great chance of bringing home 10 points at state next week in that event.

Kaitlin Walker of Wasatch had a great meet following her impressive performance last week at BYU. She won the 100 Hurdles and the 300 Hurdles both with ease.

In the Boys competition the Wasatch Wasps ran way with the team title. Josh Collins won the 800m and the 3200m and was 2nd in the 1600m to his own teammate Jeremey Wiley. Their High Jumper Nate Lee contributed 10 points on a 6'3" jump. Taylor Coburn added another 10 winning the Discus by 4 feet. John Durrant contrubuted 20 points from his individual performances in the 100 and 300 hurdles. The Wasps also won all of the relay events.

Region 11 Championships

Meet Results

Ogden High School Girls are one of the teams favored to win the 3a State Championship next weekend. This week they had to get through their very tough region. Though the tigers didn't run their distance star Sarah Feeny, they still picked up plenty of points in the distance events as 50 of their 127 ponts came in the distance events. In the 3200m alone Ogden went 1-4 with Melissa Garrett winning in 11:49.  Bear River was only 10 points behind the Tigers with 117 points.

Stansbury High Boys dominated the team competition with a very balanced attack. With points coming from nearly every event, they won the meet with 188 points over Ogden who scored 117.

Region 12 Championship

Meet Results

The Region 12 Title was closer than most of the other regions so far, especially on the girls side of things. It came all the way down to the 4x400m relay where Juab held a 4 point lead over Spanish Fork. Juab had to stay close to Spanish Fork to keep their title hopes alive, and Spanish Fork needed 2 teams between them and Juab just to tie things up. In the end Juab finished second in the event to North Sanpete to secure the title. Contributing to the cause was Kashley Carter who won the 800m, 1600m, and 3200m on the day. Juab also won the Medley Relay and Carter likely anchored that one as well.

Kayleigh Potts of Carbon Cleared 5'3" in the High Jump in one of the best individual performances of the meet.

Juab also grabbed the victory in the Boys team competition, as they were able to seperate themselves from Delta High School even though Delta grabbed individual glory in more events. Delta  8 event titles to Juab's 5 titles. In the end the depth of Juab made the difference. Jeff Rowley had the best individual performance for Juab with his Javelin mark of 179'11".
