This weekend at the Southern Utah University Coliseum Championships, Anden Lyman of Enterprise High smashed the 2a state record in the girl’s javelin. Her throw of 138 feet 1 inch is more than 8 feet farther than the standing record. Mandee Christensen of Manti set the record earlier this season at the Juab invitational and it stood for a mere two weeks.

That’s the funny thing about records. It seems so often that a record will stand for a while and then when they are broken, very often they are broken again shortly thereafter. Here at milesplit we missed the fact that Mandee Christensen broke the record two weeks ago, and want to give her credit for her great throw.

Now Anden Lyman of Enterprise holds the record at 138’1”. Her coach said that everything came together very nicely for her at the meet and that led to the record throw. Her coach also said that she still has a lot left in the tank, and says that Anden has the potential to throw as far as 145 feet this season.

It is also impressive to note that although she comes from a smaller school, Anden's throw is a foot farther than the 5a school record. Often times a reader will hear about records and discount the significance of the feat based on the size of the school. Don't doubt the talent just cause the size of the school, These girls are the cream of the crop. Her mark is the second best mark in the state this season, behind Megan Glassman’s 3a state record which was also set this weekend.

Congrats on the record Anden!

Watch this weekend at the BYU Invitational for big throws out of these very talented girls.
