Salute To Seniors: Nathan Beltran (Corner Canyon)

Want To Be Our Next Senior Salute? Find Out How!

  • What was your most memorable race/throw/jump/vault/moment?

Senior year Region. I was running the Jv race because my team was insane, but it was my moment to prove myself to try to make the state team. (which didn't happen) and I didn't even win the Jv race. I came up as the runner up but what was memorable about it was how I was able to take control of the mental side of running. It was also one of the funnest races I have ever run.

  • Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years?

Even though he is my teammate I would consider Alex Harbertson my biggest competition. Without him I would not even be close to where I am today if it wasn't for him.

  • What was your greatest accomplishment?

Helping my team Jr year win their first state title while also being the underdogs. It was us against Skyridge and it was 800m to go and I was about to give up and I looked up for a second and saw Skyridges 4th and 5th runner and realized I was our schools 5th runner and I completely dropped the hammer and passed both of them and helped us win the state title.

  • If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

Listening to my coach just a little bit more to help prevent injury and run better.

  • What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

My Jr year I dealt with a lot of the mental side of running and I was never really able to have a good race but we pushed through it all and got better

  • What will you miss the most?

Running with friends and just enjoying the sport, because even if i run in college it will be a completely different atmosphere.

  • What advice would you give to younger athletes?

Enjoy what you got because you don't know how fast it will be taken away from you. Freaking corona

  • What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?

My coach was the absolute greatest. He put so much time and effort into this team and to be able to give back to him state titles and national titles is just the best feeling. He just helps me to be able to push myself as a runner and person. He also cared about how we progressed as a person and not only as a runner.

  • What are your college plans?

I am wanting to become a D1 athlete and believe I have what it takes to do so. Whether that's by signing or walking on I will do either. No official offers yet though

  • Who would you like to say 'thank you' to?

Thank you to my whole team throughout the 4 year of my running in Highs School for pushing me and making the experience amazing. Thank you Coach Moody and Coach Dastrup for always cheering me on and helping me be a better person and runner. Thank you to anyone I have met through the sport of running.

  • Is there anything else you'd like to add?

Work hard and keep grinding because You won't get anywhere if you don't
