5A Region 5 Girls: Advantage Pine Creek

Aidyn Woodall had lots of time and space to herself at the end, but it would be Pine Creek securing the team title.

All fall, Pine Creek's girls have been enjoying a solid season. They extended that joy ride another week with a win at the 5A Region 5 meet.

Aidyn Woodall (remember that name?) made the region her personal domain with a 19:16 win, and was never challenged after the midway point, but Pine Creek's girls filled in the gaps for the team title.

Behind Woodall was Pine Creek freshman Lauren Boutelle. After starting conservatively early, Boutelle moved up a few places (even a conservative start doesn't leave Boutelle many places to move up) and took second at 19:39. Doherty's Mikayla Cox was only a few strides back at 19:44.

But the wave of Eagles was about to break on the shore of the finish line.

Madelyn Blazo took 10th, just ahead of Makala Jaramillo in 11th. Kayla Anderson was 24th and Brooke Coleman 27th to close out the Pine Creek scoring.

Palmer offered resistance with Adele Havlick in fifth and Julia Solano in seventh, but the Terrors couldn't quite close the deal. The final tally had Pine Creek with 74, Palmer with 83, Douglas County with 85, and Chaparral with 89.

Rock Canyon will be on the outside looking in come state. No other teams were close to being in contention for a state berth.

The 5A Region 5 girls team entries at state figure to be pretty closely matched.

Individual qualifiers go to Mollie Roden of Rampart, Lydia Jenkins of Legend, Ashley Johnson of Legend, Haley Barrington of Liberty, and Emily Hamilton of Fountain-Ft. Carson. As individual qualifiers by region go, that represents a bumper crop.
