Salute To Seniors: Carter Guiness (Herriman)

    Name: Carter Guiness

    School: Herriman

What was your most memorable race/throw/jump/vault/moment?

Going to state my sophomore year where I was barely able to qualify and then took last. I also watched a bunch of guys that were way faster than I was.

o Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years?

I've had some good competition in my career, some of the best competitors were Nathan Kaufusi, Austin Klingler and Matt Masias.

o What was your greatest accomplishment?

Being able to take second at state in both the 200 and 400 last year.

o If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

I would have started my freshman year instead of my sophomore year, I would have been able to end up faster with another year of training.

o What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

Pulling my hamstring in the indoor season.

o What will you miss the most?

My friends and teammates. Being to hangout with them at events was always fun.

o What advice would you give to younger athletes?

Work hard and trust your coaches.

o What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?

I wouldn't be anywhere close to where I am now without the coaches I've had. They've helped me improve on the track and contributed to my development as a person.

o What are your college plans?

Currently I'm not committed but I am close to a decision.

o Who would you like to say 'thank you' to?

My coaches, parents, and teammates. They've all helped and supported me along the way and I wouldn't be where I am without them.
