Milesplit Utah Athlete of the Week- September 9-15, 2013

Aubrey Argyle, Davis- Davis High Freshman Aubrey Argyle has been selected as the Milesplit Utah athlete of the week after her big win at the BYU Autumn Classic on Saturday. Not only did Argyle win the meet,  but she did so over talented athletes such as 2012 State Champion Aimee Bryson, Teammate Taylor Cox, Maple Mountains Britney Lund, and about 173 other athletes. Her winning time of 18:43 gave her the victory by 5 seconds. Her season best in the 5k is 18:05 from the Murray Invitational, which is the 6th fastest in the state this season.

Clayson Shumway, Lone Peak- Lone Peak Senior Clayson Shumway has been named the Milesplit Utah athlete of the week after he pulled away for the win in convincing fashion at the BYU Autumn Classic. On a day where the muddy conditions slowed the times, Shumway looked strong and consistent as he won with a time of 16:06. Shumway is a new addition to the Knights, as he moved to Utah from Liberty High School in Colorado Springs. The Colorado 1600m state champ is a great addition to the Lone Peak team, and with him they have climbed to a #3 ranking in the South West region.

Every week, Milesplit Utah honors one male athlete and one female athlete of the week, based on high performance. The award is given to an athlete based on time, exceptional performance, a big win, a breakout performance, or whatever else merits the honor. When you feel someone deserves the award, send us your nomination by email to milesplitut@gmail.com
