Girls Recap-

The Logan High Grizzlies hosted their invitational this weekend. It was a great meet with top-notch performance coming in across the boards.

One of the biggest moments of the meet came when Kaysha Love of Herriman matched up with Lauren Baxter of Timpview. Love won it 12.16 to 12.22, edging out Baxter who has dominated this season. Love also came back to win the 200m dash with a time of 25.75, and cleared 5’4” in the high jump for her third event win. She is only a freshman, which makes all this even more impressive.

Whatever it is about competing in front of a home crowd, Brynne Anderson made the most of it. She jumped 19’4” in the girl’s long jump. She beat her nearest competitor by nearly 2 feet as well as took the lead in the state rankings for the season. She is another underclassman, only a sophomore.

Sydney Bricker of Hillcrest won the 400m dash with a time of 58.50 over Emily Black of Weber High at 59.30. Bricker’s time is good enough for 4th in the state this year as well.

Ellie Child of Davis won the girls 3200m in a time of 11:13.96. She was followed by Mcgovern of Pocatello and Lucy Biles of Herriman.

Kassie Nagel of Morgan owns the state in terms of the Shot Put. She won another meet this time with a mark of 41’0. 5”.  She came back to win the Discus as well with a throw of 126’05”

Hannah Malone of Box Elder won the girls 1600m beating out Tori Parkinson of Mountain Crest 5:16.89 to 5:18.00.

Brenna Porter of Sky View won the girls 100m Hurdles, improving on her state leading time posting 14.90. She came back to run a season and state best in the 300 Hurdles as well with a time of 43.25.

4x800m National Champions Davis won another 4x800, using a completely different team that won nationals. Having a different 4 girls running didn’t matter too much as they still won by 38 seconds, showing off their depth in the distance events.

Mountain Crest Girls pulled out a nail biter over Box Elder in the sprint medley relay. It came down to the wire with Mountain Crest edging out Box Elder 4:24.96 to 4:25.00. Just 4/100ths of a second separated the two.
