This weekend Utah athletes will be spreading across quite a few meets throughout the state. Copper Hills High School will host the UHSTCA Championship meet, which is usually one of the top meets in the state for running great times. A special feature of the meet is that Bingham High is hosting a team from Rustenberg South Africa. They have 13 girls and 5 boys who will be competing in tomorrows meet. It should be fun to have the international competition at the meet.

Other meets this weekend will be the Manti Invitational, The Uintah Invitational in Vernal, and the Delta Invitational, as well as some athletes heading to California for the Arcadia Invitational.

The UHSTCA Championship meet at Copper Hills is going to be a lot of fun to watch this year, as the competition is great and the track is newly re-surfaced. This should produce some good marks.

Here are a few of the many talented athletes to watch for.

Boys 1600m

Andrew Brewer of Bingham has run 4:21 this year and is one of the top distance runners in the state. He will be joined by state XC champ Kramer Morton of Alta. Kramer has great finishing speed and will be looking for a win this weekend as well as a PR. Connor McMillan is one of the best athletes on the star studded American Fork squad and you better believe he has the talent to run with the best of them. Also watch for Conner Jones of Herriman as well as a large group of guys right around the 4:30 range that will be looking for a big PR.

Girls 300h

Mindy Stapel of Springville has run 46.2 this season, She will be looking for a victory this weekend. Kylee Tirell of Riverton has run 47 and will be looking to challenge Mindy, as well as Nicole Nelson of Alta

Boys 3200m

Kramer Morton of Alta will be doubling back from his 1600 looking to improve on his best time of 9:35. His seed time in the event is considerably better than the field but don’t let that fool you. Timo down at American Fork knows how to train em right and he’s got a few athletes in the meet that will be ready to PR.

Girls 400m

Mckayla Montgomery of Springville and Sydney Bricker of Hillcrest own the best entry marks in the field each at 59.9. they should do some great battle in the girls 400m

Boys 400m

Mika Mason of Richfield is a standout in the quarter mile and will be looking to improve on his season best time of 50.56. He will be joined by a talented Alta team that has a few 50 second guys.

Girls 800m

Lucy Biles will be working on her speed as she trys her hand at the girls 800m. Don’t forget by the way, to vote for her on the state of sport award! Also watch for her teammate Kami Hartley.

Boys 800m

Andrew Brewer of Bingham is a favorite in the the 1600 as well as the 800m and has a best time of 1:55.5 and will be looking to improve upon that stellar time. Also watch for Nate Marchant of Jordan High.

Boys HJ

Brenan Thomas of Richfield has a season best of 6’4” from last week at UVU. Look for big things from him. Also watch for Chris Stokes of Copper Hills, Austin Baker of Alta, and Chris Nkoy of Rowland Hall.

Girls HJ

Audrey Muir of Union High School has a best mark of 5’6 inches which is quite a ways above the rest of the field.

Boys Pole Vault

It’s the story of the two Mitch’s as Bingham Duo of Mitch Kalinin and Mitch Robinson both cleared 14 feet at the Davis Supermeet. They currently lead the state by nearly a foot and will be battling each other and gravity as they go for a few more inches.

Relays

In the 4x100 Alta and Springville have the same seed time. The 4x100 is always one of the most fun events to watch and this meet should be no different.

In the 4x400 Alta is one of the best teams in the state. They should have a great time with this meet and hopefully they can improve even more on their 3:26 from Pineview.
