Broncos Split Squad, Host Boise State Team Challenge
Boise State sent to Tyson Invite and Husky Classic, hosts Team Challenge

* MEET SPECIFICS The Boise State track and field teams will split three ways this coming weekend, hosting the Boise State Team Challenge, as well as sending a handful of athletes to the Husky Classic (Seattle) and the Tyson Invitational (Fayetteville, Ark.). The Boise State Team Challenge is the final regular season home meet for the Broncos and will be contested Feb. 8 and 9 at the Jacksons Indoor Track in Nampa, Idaho. The Husky Classic and Tyson Invitational will also be held Feb. 8 and 9 in their respective locations.

* TICKETS AND PARKING - Pricing for the Boise State Team Challenge is as follows:

$5 - Adults
$3 - Students with ID / Kids 6-12 years / Seniors 60+
Kids 5 and under are free
*Parking is free

* DIRECTIONS TO THE IDAHO CENTER - The Idaho Center sits on the north side of East Franklin Road, between Idaho Center Blvd. and Star Road, approximately one-half mile north of Interstate 84. If coming from I-84, take Exit 38 and go north approximately one-half mile to the light (E. Franklin Rd.). Go right at the light and continue approximately another one-half mile and turn left onto Equine Drive. Continue another one-quarter mile and the building will be on the right.

* THE COMPETITION - The majority of the Boise State men and women will compete at home this weekend, welcoming NCAA Division I Nevada, Utah, Utah State and Washington, as well as NCAA Division II opponents, Cal State Stanislaus and Northwest Nazarene. NCAA Division III competitors, George Fox, join NAIA affiliates The College of Idaho and Eastern Oregon, as well as Treasure Valley Community College and additional club teams as participants in the meet.

TYSON INVITATIONAL
* HEADED EAST - Four Bronco men head east to the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., Feb. 8-9. Daveon Collins will compete in the mens 200-meters (Saturday at 1:15 p.m. MT), while Jordin Andrade, Manoah Wesson and Karrie Butler will race in the 400-meters (Friday at 1:00 p.m. MT). The quartet will join to run the 4x400-meter relay on Saturday at 3:50 p.m. MT.

HUSKY CLASSIC
* HEADED WEST Seven distance runners will head west to compete in Seattle at the Husky Classic Feb. 8 and 9. Drew Odonoghue McDonald will race in the mens Mile, while Jeff Howard and Barak Watson will race in the mens 3000-meters. Aaron Back and David Elliott will race in the mens 5000-meters, while Emma Bates and Marisa VanderMalle will race in the womens 3000-meters. * UNDEFEATED - Four Broncos remain undefeated with multiple wins in their respective events. Will Lohman and Chase Sexton lead the way with four wins apiece in the weight throw and shot put, respectively. Daveon Collins has totaled two wins in the 200-meters this season, while Emma Bates has tallied two wins in the mile, both remaining undefeated in those events.


* IN THE RANKINGS - According to www.tfrrs.org a handful of Broncos sit amongst the nation's top-50 in their respective events, including: Jordin Andrade (33rd, 400m); Emma Bates (29th, Mile); Karrie Butler (41st, 400m); Daveon Collins (41st, 200m); Will Lohman (44th, Shot Put); Rolando Trammel (36th, 60m hurdles); Chase Sexton (32nd, Shot Put); and two combinations of the mens 4x400-meter relay (35th and 45th).


Additionally, numerous Broncos sit amongst the Mountain West's top-three in their respective events, including: Jordin Andrade (1st, 400m); Emma Bates (3rd, 800m and 1st, Mile); Karrie Butler (2nd, 400m); Daveon Collins (2nd, 60m and 1st, 200m); Mackenzie Flannigan (3rd, 200m); Lauran Johnson (2nd, High Jump); Will Lohman (3rd, Shot put); Justin Malnes (3rd, 60m hurdles); Heather Pilcher (3rd, Long Jump); Chase Sexton (2nd, Shot put); Rolando Trammel (2nd, 60m hurdles); Barak Watson (1st, 3000m); Manoah Wesson (2nd, 200m and 3rd, 400m), the men's 4x400m relay (1st) and women's 4x400m relay (2nd), the men's distance medley relay (1st) and women's distance medley relay (2nd).

* HONORS CANDIDATES - Jordin Andrade and Emma Bates collected the first MW Athlete of the Week honors for the 2012-13 indoor track and field season. The pair earned the honors on Dec. 11, 2012

* INDOOR SCHEDULE - Boise State one regular-season meet remaining at the Jacksons Indoor Track. This week the Broncos compete in the Boise State Team Challenge (Feb. 8-9). Boise State travels to the Husky Classic (Feb. 8-9) and Tyson Invitational (Feb. 8-9), as well as the UW Last Chance Qualifier (March 2). The Broncos will play host the 2013 Mountain West Indoor Championships Feb. 21-23.
