Southwest Region Rankings: Oct. 7

Colorado has a very, very strong presence in the second edition of the Southwest Region Rankings...

BOYS

While American Fork remains on top, Colorado squads take up three of the top five spots, led by Dakota Ridge, who jumped to the No. 2 spot over Mountain Vista. The biggest leap came from Niwot, who jumped three spots to the No. 5 position.

Behind them, Centaurus leapt into the polls, coming in No. 8, just ahead of Heritage.

GIRLS

The No. 1 team in the country remained the No. 1 team in the Southwest Region. Mountain Vista hasn't given anyone reason to doubt their strengths.

Behind them, however, there was a surge coming from Niwot and Peak to Peak. Niwot's runner-up finish at Desert Twilight was a statement to their intentions, and for their efforts they leapt two spots to No. 4 in the latest rankings, just ahead of 4A rival Battle Mountain.

Also making the leap was Peak to Peak, who jumped two spots to No. 6. Cherokee Trail was the fifth Colorado squad within the top 10, coming in No. 8.
