The Vikings plans were a little derailed this weekend due to Hurricane Florence so we didn't get a chance to see their full top seven on the line. That wasn't going to change much though as they showed out big on September 8th at the PTXC-10 Invitational. Without last years led guy in Sam Affolder who was taking the ACT's they were able to win scoring 25 points with speed ratings of 182, 181, 178, 175, 172, 170 and 165 for their top seven.

Great Oak remains in the number two spot but they are in a tight race with FM and Loudoun Valley. They had an amazing performance at the Woodbridge Cross Country Classic with a lot of upperclassmen stepping into top form. Key runners Gabriel Abbes, Tyler Tickner, and Chris Verdugo all ran well with speed ratings of 183, 182, and 177 respectively. It's the Wolf Pack's backend guys who made the big impact for this team seniors Cameron Hylton, and Noah Nevens both had big races keeping the Wolf Pack's compression to 24 seconds. Key transfer Cole Sawires Yager also ran well keeping the teams top six guys all under 15-minutes. Those were just the guys in the sweepstakes race. Great Oak showed off even more depth by winning the rated and varsity "B" races as well with even more guys sub 15 minutes.
3
FM and Great Oak are neck and neck after both teams had an outstanding first outing dropping some crazy speed ratings. For FM their top two guys Garrett Brennan and Geoff Howles both had speed ratings of 185 while the top five guys were all 172 or faster.

Last week on MileSplit Live the state of Illinois was put on blast, the boys' teams imparticular. This week the Wheaton Warrenville South High School boys responded. They won the Richard Spring Invitational (63 teams) scoring 42 points. They had speed ratings which could rival some of the top five teams in the country clocking in at 178, 175, 175, 175, and 173 through five runners. 0:13 1-5 Split | 14:56 Avg
5
Burnt Hills had a big season opener at the Guilderland Invitational on September 8th. The teams top guys in Tyler Berg and Evan Brennan proved based on speed ratings that they can mix it up with any of the teams in the top five. Both athletes ran 185 speed ratings and 14:32 for 2.86 miles. What could be this teams achilles heal is their lack of depth through seven. They had a guy in the top seven with a 149 speed rating and only 160 or better through five guys.
6
Raced this weekend at the Earlybird Invitational. First indications look to be a solid 1-4 but lacking the depth in the 5-7 spots.
7
American Fork looked solid in their last three outings. Utah gets out to an early start as their state meet is one of the first in the country and American Fork appears to be the top dog in the state once again. In their most recent meet -- the BYU Autumn Classic -- the cavemen beat out Skyridge 83 to 91. They have a solid top three guys in Luke Grundvig, Carson Clinger and Dalton Brems but they will have to see more from their 5-7 guys if they look to mix it up for a podium spot at a natiaonl meet. Their most recent speed ratings were 183, 176, 172, 164, and 164 through five runners and seven with a 162 or better.
8
The guys from Weddington look to be the top team in North Carolina this year. They easily won the Friday Night Lights XC Festival with one of the best team averages with only a 26-second 1-5 split and 16:11 average. They had speed ratings of 177, 177, 170, 169, and 168 for the top five.
9
Loyola earned the win at the Mt. Carmel XC Invitational running a 30-second 1-5 Split and a 15:57 average for the 3-mile course. They upset previously No. 9 ranked Dana Hills.
10
Won the Marcus Invitational scoring 73 points (30 teams). They only ran four guys at the Southlake Carroll Invitational. When they ran all five of their top guys at Marcus their top five guys were 181, 179, 169, 165 and 164.
11
In their one race of the year so far they claimed the top 15 spots and had a 0:21 1-5 Split and a 16:13 average. They raced at the Injury Fund Carnival Lipa Race - Boys race.
12
This team won the Joe Vigil Open scoring 35 points. They had a bit of a worrisome 1-5 split of nearly 2 minutes at 1:57 their average for their top five over the 5K course was 16:41. Keep in mind they are also running at nearly 8,000 feet in elevation (7,543 to be exact) in Alamosa Colorado.
13
This team had an outstanding run to beat No. 11 ranked Dowling Catholic. One of the most impressive runs was from freshmen Otto Schreiner who was the teams 4th man and helped keep their spread to under a minute at 0:53- seconds.
14
They lost to Edina High school at the Heartland Classic but still looked fairly strong. The team had a 1:01 1-5 split and an average of 16:44.
15
The guys from Kamiakin didn't look as strong as years past at the Tracy Walters Invitational on September 8th. They scored 24 points and beat out No. 25 ranked Lewis And Clark High School who scored 60 points for second place.
16
They won the varsity B boys gold race at the Woodbridge Cross Country Classic scoring 52 points. They ran their JV squad there.
17
The Bolles guys ran most recently at the Bale-n-Trail Cross Country Original. They, however, did not run the majority of the teams top athletes including number two and three runners Chase Rivera, Alexander Hastings and Benjamin Foltz. They finished ninth with mostly freshmen and sophomores on the line. Their run at the 5th Annual Florida Horse Park Invitational was more indicative of what their team will look like this season. At that meet, they swept the top three places with Hicks, Rivera, Foltz and Hastings not far off in sixth. They have strong senior leadership up front but are looking for some underclassmen to step up in the 5-7 positions and help close down their 1:12 1-5 split.
18
CBA ran at the Battle @ Ocean County Park invitational but did not run their top seven. They use it as an experience booster for their up and comers. They still won scoring 111 points.
19
The team ran at the Connecticut River Valley Invitational but based on last years team they did not run their top guys. Looks like they could be saving them for the Bowdoin XC Classic this weekend which they appear to be registered for.
20
Swept the top 10 spots at the Colonial Conference Batch Meet. Looks like it was an easy team tempo for the win. All of the teams top seven guys were between 17:36 and 17:39.
21
The Carmel guys rolled to a 58 point win at the Riverview Health Flash Rock Invitational. The team had a solid 0:37 1-5 Split and a 1-5 average 5K time of 16:23.
22
Middleton won the Arrowhead Invitational in Wisconsin on September 6th, without their top returner Caleb Easton. They scored 68 points to earn the win with a 0:27 second 1-5 Split and a 16:26 1-5 average time.
23
Won the Farmer Invitational scoring 48 points. They had a 0:36 1-5 Split and a 15:51 1-5 team average.
24
Their speed ratings from the Jim Smith Invitational were a bit slower than expected, but their senior boys dominated the meet.
25
Lewis And Clark High School had a big loss to No. 7 ranked Kamiakin (WA) at the Tracy Walters Invitational on September 8th, but they still look like one of the top teams in the Northwest region. They ran solidly at a tri meet winning with 25 points.

Out Of The Rankings:

Dana Hills High School - Danna Hills suffered a big loss to both Loyola and La Costa Canyon this weekend at the Mt. Carmel XC Invitational.

Central Valley Senior High School - They had a rough quad meet taking second to Mead Senior High School 35-39. It looks like their top retuning runner from 2017 Ryan Kline did not run. The team as a whole did not run well.

On The Bubble:

Mountain Vista - Ran very well at Liberty Bell. If you count in Easton Allred who can't run on varsity due to Colorado's transfer rules then this team is a top team in the nation. The team had speed ratings of 181, 172, 168, 167, and 165.
